The Summer

First I will tell you a little about myself. I am a senior at Kennesaw State University studying communications with a concentration in public relations. I do not know what I want to do with this degree, but I do know I need a degree for the simple fact that I can always have something to fall back on. I do have an idea of what I want to do when I graduate though. I have always been extremely interested in golf. I have a real passion for the game. One of my goals in life is to always enjoy life and to take pride in whatever work that I pursue. I have worked at three golf courses, and I have worked retail selling and repairing golf clubs. This summer I finally got the job I have been pursuing for years.

I got a job at Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta, GA. It is a very prestigious golf course, and I got a job caddying. When I first got the job I had no clue what to expect. I knew I was going to meet numerous people and I wanted to work on my networking skills because you never know who you might run into that can change your future forever. I began this job the week that the spring semester ended last May. I have had a great summer meeting new people and sharpening my people skills.

I picked up the basics of the job rather quickly because I have been an avid golfer since I was 11 years old. I have played a couple prestigious golf courses around the southeast where I had a caddie when I played so I knew some of the basics just from watching them help me. I have a passion for this job because I am doing something that I have always wanted to do. I am on a beautiful golf course and I am networking and meeting interesting people every time I go out there. There are a few members that I have caddied for this summer that really stick out in my mind, and throughout this blog I will describe some of the interesting events that happen while on the links.

Bipolar disease and schizophrenia disorder

Franklin Bearson, Brad Sanders, Rachel Winters, and Troy Ponter have realized the importance of bipolar and schizophrenia disorders. If symptoms of these disorders are realized early in an individual then treatment and recovery can be achieved. The worse thing a family member or friend could do if symptoms of these disorders are realized is to do nothing. Families and friends that see a loved one with these symptoms should contact a doctor immediately. Doing nothing and thinking that it will get better or that’s its just a phase greatly increases the probability that the person will suffer much more permanent damage. Schizophrenia is recognized as a disease of the brain in which the brain is physically damaged, and unfortunately the noticeable symptoms of schizophrenia are usually quite late in the disease process. Individuals who are at risk for developing a schizophrenia disorder experience mental and emotional changes before more serious symptoms develop. Some of these early indicators are hard to recognize and sometimes barely noticeable. The sudden change in a person’s usual way of operating or relating to others is the most common indicator of an early sign of risk. If any of the early signs of these disorders are present then it is important to contact a doctor immediately. If early signs are detected and noticed it can provide the greatest chance of recovery. By identifying and treating the early signs of risk, it might delay, prevent or reduce the intensity of the disorder.
